Sprinkelz: Spoiled Sweet or Spoiled Rotten?

Posted By Pets on Aug 10, 2010 at 4:00AM

Admittedly, sprinkles are my favorite cake and cookie topping. Even considering my love for the multicolored decoration, I think this detail would be lost on a dog whose goal is to gobble up the sweet treat in one gulp.

The next time you bake up a cake for your pooch, would you pick a pack of Let's Do Organic . . . Sprinkelz ($2.50) with fruit- and veggie-derived hues to add up top?

Try This Supermarket Soap Substitute For Pricey Pet Shampoos

Posted By Pets on Dec 2, 2009 at 9:20AM

For one small dog, North certainly has a cabinet full of beauty products to slosh up an entire kennel's worth of pups. Granted I've got my favorite shampoos (and conditioner) to keep my pooch so fresh and so clean, clean in smell and appearance but a recent post on Dolittler got me thinking.

The vet was waxing poetic about the power of Dawn dishwashing detergent for oily pet problems like accidental dips in motor oil or skunk spray. Makes sense now that I think about it since that's definitely what zoos and rescue organizations use on wild birds after oil spills. I know what I'll grab if my pooch has an unfortunate run-in with something sticky — Fingers crossed that I won't need to use it, but tell me, have you ever tried this for yourself?

Have a shampoo (or something else) you'll stand by through thick and thin oily and flaky, post your review or tip in the Street Team group in the PetSugar Community!

Miss Pru Gets Comfy Cozy With Handmade, Remade Clothing

Posted By Pet Community on Dec 2, 2009 at 4:00AM

This post comes to us from our Community Member lostinsomniac.

I've been trying to get together a nice winter wardrobe for Miss Pru to combat the cold Maine winters. Luckily, a friend of mine gave me a gift of a used sewing machine and a couple of dogcentric patterns so I have been whipping up a few things using old, no longer used clothing.

This is Pru's newest. I used an old American Eagle zippered hoodie for the material.

Is a DIY Tape Measure Cat Toy Brilliant or Baffling?

Posted By Pets on Nov 24, 2009 at 8:00AM

I admit when a pal shared her crafty creation idea with me, I was worried it would result in something dangerous. However, she proudly showed off her tape measure re-creation and it looked rather recreational for her frisky feline. Many cats go crrrazy for fronds of all time so she took a tiny, retractable tape measure and taped a few bright feathers to the end.

To play she lets it out a few feet and then presses the button and it flies in, drawing her kitty down from any perch. She was careful to point out to use the small measures, not the ones with hard plastic tape, and to test it out in a cat free room first to make sure it doesn't fly up as it slips back in. Would your pets dig this project . . . or will you take a pass?
